Beatriz At Dinner (2017)
Director: Miguel Arteta
Reparto: Salma Hayek, John Lithgow, Connie Briton, Jay Duplass, Chloë Sevigny
RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES - MOVIE REVIEW
- "Some things aren't meant to be changed. You need to accept that." -
There has never been a movie that anyone ever needed.
Every time a trailer for a movie comes out that's a reboot, remake or prequel, the Internet always collectively says "why do we need this? Who wants this? Who was even asking for this???"
No one ever says "Finally! We need a movie like this. I'm so glad they're making this." I think that proves how cynical we've become as movie fans.
That's how people felt when they heard of this movie because they were afraid that Hollywood was once again gonna sodomize the beloved Planet of the Apes franchise that our grandparents made us watch as kids.
Fortunately this is one of those times that Hollywood chose not to take out childhoods behind the barn and shoot it, instead they chose to give a much needed facelift.
Rise of the Planet of the Apes is a rare movie that serves as both a prequel to the 1968 Planet of the Apes masterpiece and a reboot of the Planet of the Apes franchise that was in a coma until Tim Burton pulled the life support plug off it in 2001; and not only that, it can also technically be seen as a remake of Conquest of the Planet of the Apes.
This movie shows us the early stages of how an ape named Caesar started a revolution and caused the Apepocalypse that overthrew humans as the dominant species.
The original classic never really gave any indication as to what actually happened that cause the Apes to take over. It was only from the iconic ending that we got an idea that maybe some nuclear disaster happened and the maybe Apes survived with the cockroaches and saw their opportunity to rise up and maybe that's how they became our masters.
This movie shows us how it all started in earnest with a really interesting story where evolution becomes revolution: James Franco plays a scientist who is working a cure for Alzheimer's which really hits home to him because his dad played John Lithgow is in the late stages of Alzheimer's. The cure he's working on isn't ready to be tested on humans yet so they try it out on apes which are our closest counterparts.
Tante grandi attrici e grandi attori, nuove rivelazioni e veterani.

And congratulations as well to John Lithgow, for winning Best Supporting Actor for The Crown. His portrayal of Winston Churchill was very strong, even though I'd wished Wright had won. #johnlithgow#thecrown#emmys2017
