Be mindful even if your mind is full - James De La Vega. I saw this on somewhat of a mural on my first day in NYC in november 2016 and it resonated, now i keep it plastered everywhere in my life. Its such a simple yet important affirmation to remember. The past few weeks have been h e c t i c and some days (specifically today) have been a struggle to keep my head. It doesn't help that i haven't taken the time to meditate properly for a looooong time. Its human nature for consciousness to slip away for a slice of time and you feel the need to project, cry, shout, curl up, run away. Sometimes theres so much going on that focussing your attention on the breath is just impossible This is aaaalll okay, do what you gotta do. Just remain mindful. NOTICE that your consciousness has slipped and instantly it is regained. NOTICE that you need to cry, scream, shout, run away, whatever, and DO IT. Adulting is a challenge. Constant change and growth gets exhausting, confusing, worrying. Anxiety is a tough mo'fcka sometimes. Its ok! No matter how many thoughts you have whizzing around your head, just remember they are JUST thoughts. They are NOT you. You are in control. Dont identify with them- you have your own identity. And the most important thing: be kind to yourself. Happy Monday 💜💛
