Day 16-18 New Mexico, Utah, Arizona
Sometimes on this trip I have to pinch and tell myself that what my eyeballs are showing me is real. The past few days have been like this more than ever. The endless expanse of the West Texas oil fields turned into sparse brush lands of New Mexico and Carlsbad National Park. We went for an 800ft jolly down into the the famous Carlsbad Cavern but my fear of heights nearly made me have a full on paddy half way down so no pictures of that sadly. I can tell you that it looked cave like, however. New Mexican sunsets blew my socks off though.
Heading north for a bit, we made a stop at Roswell, famous for being the home of the batshit crazy alien people who very kindly have built a museum and 'research centre' for us to witness wonders like this video. Not sure if this was the weirdest thing in there.
Driving through Southern Utah to Monument Valley was a mind melting experience. twisting roads with little signs of civilisation for miles, weaving our way through rock faces and craggs that form the Southern most tip of what to the north becomes the Colorado Rockies. Love me some geography pals. Crossing in and out of Arizona we reached the most stunning landscape- we pretended to be Forrest Gump and had a Navajo jeep tour of their ancestral park lands. Preeeety fucking cool. And very dusty.
But now im staying in a place called Mexican Hat. I shit you not. See you in the Grand Canyon.
