“I am an object, do with me what you will in the next six hours, and I assume all responsibility.” In the seventies, Marina Abramovic (@abramovicinstitute) put to the test the violent nature of society with a series of performances known as "The Rhythm Series". She stood motionless for six hours, and left the audience table with objects such as roses, feathers, chains, knives, and even a gun.
In the first hours the audience was timid, but as time elapsed it turned more agressive. She was moved into a variety of poses, her clothes were torn off, her neck cut with a razor. Finally, when an audience member placed the loaded gun in Abramović’s hand, and pointed it at her chest, the performance was stopped.
