I made this infographic this morning as I feel it is an area where most people lack knowledge or understanding. .
Progress for most means hitting a certain number on the scale. You'll weigh yourself one day and then sometime randomly again during that week or month in some cases and the weight is up. Thats not the result you had hoped for so you then resort to binge eating and the "oh fuck it" mindset, of not caring, losing motivation and interest.
However this really should not be the way to track progress. You haven't taken into account the time of day, how much you've eaten, whether or not you pooped, how much water you drink or how much sodium you had etc.
In order to correctly track and manage progress you need to weigh yourself consistently under the same conditions (empty stomach, same time of day etc). Some days you'll be up, some days you'll be down but not one singular measurement should determine success. Instead, find the weekly average of weigh ins, use body fat percentages, measurements and pictures to accurately track your progress.
Taking pictures is one of the best tools and my personal favourite. It allows you to see the physical changes in body composition. Hopefully this will help somebody ✌🏼 and remember "The scale can only give you a numerical reflection of your relationship with gravity." - Steve Maraboli
So I've posted this one before but I feel I need to post it again just to remind all you fit girls out there...
I was completely horrified the other day when a lady at my work referred to my muscular arms as "disgusting"...
Firstly: ***explicit content. not advised for younger viewers*** 🖕🏼
Secondly: I don't understand how ANYBODY thinks they have the right to judge anybody else! Who are you to say that someone is too fat or too skinny, too muscular or too whatever?! It has sweet f*#k all do with with you. This whole Body Shaming culture we find ourselves in is disgraceful! Life is hard enough without people passing judgement. So do we favour? LOVE yourself! Embrace your beauty and your flaws and do not give a single flying f*#k about what anyone says! ***Rant Over*** Jx
Goofy faced pictures are what keeps me from being too serious most days. 😂
As a mother of three, although if I REALLY dedicated myself and missed out on even the littlest moments with my kids I probably would be better at this, I don't make it a priority to post my life on this page of my fitness journey daily. I mean, I make time to workout and eat healthy of course, but as far as documenting every single moment... It's just not honestly ideal personally. My phone isn't glued to my hand and although I take TONS of pictures of my babes, that's honestly the only reason my phone is ever in the same room as me on a daily basis. However, I WANT to inspire people, I WANT someone to stumble across this page by chance and realize that being a mom shouldn't stop you from whatever your health goal may be. But, i WON'T take that moment every single day to post simply because being a mom is in fact my number one priority. Some days my kids are absolute angels and don't wake up at 5 am and go about their day having tantrums and being monsters... I want whomever that does happen to stumble across me to know that even through the toughest days, after you've made sure everyone is happy, take that time to yourself to better your mind and body. It may seem difficult, but you only have one body. Treat it right. Even if you don't post about it on your "inspirational goal oriented" instagram page. 💪🏻✌🏻 Today, as well as yesterday, I did a 30 minute hiit workout while my kiddos ate breakfast. Now, for lunch, I'm indulging in a shake consisting whey protein, cocoa powder, chia seeds, spinach, half a frozen banana, and water.
Had an absolutely delicious brunch today with my love 💕😋 I have to say when you make your meals look so pretty sometimes you don't want to eat them..... jk 😂 On the menu today was of course another omelette with mushrooms, spinach, onions and a beYOUtiful avocado rose and strawberry jam on wheat 👍🏻 Eating foods that are good for my body used to be a chore, but now I find it to be fun and exciting to try out different foods, cook in the kitchen and not feel bloated after every meal 🙌🏻🙌🏻 Join my FREE health and fitness FB group for great recipe ideas, workout tutorials and motivation! 💕💕 Message me to join!
