We've been busy working on a new pattern. What do you think?
Did you know we design all of our patterns ourself? Every single item I hand make for you, is hours of fiddling and making changes to things to get things to look exactly right!
This is what is so special about supporting nz handmade ❤️.
Has anyone read this book? Thoughts!?!?
My house (especially closets) are #outofcontrol 🤦🏻♀️ I am seriously considering #capsulewardrobes for everyone and capsule toys (is that even a thing?) for the girls.
Hello! Could anyone recommend me something to read about the capsule wardrobe? Any good websites, blogs, and books are very welcome!
Всем привет! Кто-нибудь мне может порекомендовать, что почитать или посмотреть про капсульный гардероб? Может быть есть хорошие сайты или книги... #capsulewardrobe#капсульныйгардероб#capsulewardrobes#гардероб
The wardrobe of a women-what she gathers together & has found to be fitting, efficient & collectively authentic to her personally. & yet more than that-a picture of a journey my maker and I have been on.
I wasn't fond of the term materialism, until all my energy & money was spent on fulfilling an image I imagined clothes were the answer to.
I bought into the promise that they would fill the void acceptance and love seemed to be experiencing a drought in.
Until, just finally I couldn't take the pile up of clothes that made me miserable to look at. I had gathered together phrases of commercials, stereotypes, trends-a fashion of lies sold to me, attached to my emotions and clinging to my identity.
There'd be days I would bunch it all together and soak my tears into the threads. I hated the impulse to buy, to have, to need-when all I desired was to be known.
The fallout of believing the world was the idea that I lived to be longed for. Wrong.
And when that changed-when I challenged where my value & worth were from-praise fell off my lips as I sold, gave and responded to Gods call on my life to maximize my worth in Him by minimizing the amount of clothes I owned.
After months of seeking the simplicity of what I clothed myself in-I have been joyful to own a small capsule wardrobe. It mimics Gods vow that there's nothing I can do to make Him love me more or less.
Because, we often get caught up on that last phrase-more or less.
As I journeyed through this, more or less was a struggle, because perfectionism comes to attack the grace of getting rid of the lies I had worn and worn out- because the worlds view of me, just doesn't fit. (Blog post to come-stayed tuned)❤️
For some reason, my latest post - published this morning on urbanity-blog.com - has been one of my most read ever in the blog's 2 year history! Find out for yourself what all the fuss is about (hint - its me having a #firstworldproblems rant about capsule wardrobes) pic by @kirstymclachlan featuring my fave @oliviarosethelabel top and @stelladotuk choker 💋
CAPSULE 7X7. Hey friends! We talk a lot about #capsulewardrobes over here and so we thought it'd be fun to give you a little taste of one! •
For those of you new to the capsule closet, the idea is simple: have fewer items of clothing in your wardrobe, and wear them often. The pieces in your "capsule" should be items that: •
1) You LOVE,
2) Are versatile (can be dressed up or down), and,
3) Are complementary (can be mixed and matched).
Capsule wardrobes have become ever more popular with the minimalist movement, and there are so many reasons to love them. Fewer items, means less buying, which means being able to use your purchasing power for good while selecting items that make your heart happy. Capsule wardrobes mean fewer decisions in the morning as whatever you pick out of your closet will go together. And, if you're traveling, capsule closets (or capsule suitcases, perhaps) make packing a breeze- fewer items needed on your jet-setting adventure. •
So we've created 7 outfits, using 7 items of clothing to demonstrate a week in the life of a capsule wardrobe. At the end of the week, we'll round up all the looks on the blog, but in the meantime, you can shop the looks on the site! Happy capsule week friends! •
Look 1: Casual floral (#madeinAmerica ) for out and about around town. (Piece 1- Floral top, Piece 2- denim).
So I started purging! I have purged clothes , a lot of clothes once prior, about 7 years ago. But this time I am really thinking about how I live, what kind of clothes I wear and need. Thanks to Erin @cottonstem !!! I have 2 seperate needs/lives, #1 mom life, around the house but still lookin good enough to run to a sports event at school, and #2 , church/ministry, which means I need dressier clothes, suits, dresses and skirt/blouse combinations.
These 2 spaces house everything, clothes wise that I own, including shoes. Except for a few pair of flip flops which are in a roll out drawer under my bed. But I don't count them.
Anyway, thanks Erin for the inspiration!!! Its my version of several seasonal capsules!!! #purgingstuffyoudontneed#feelsgood#capsulewardrobes
From our fabulous intern Aleia: One of my favorite parts of summer is planting and caring for my flowers. This year I have started growing vegetables and herbs in my backyard. My first victory (and as it turns out the start of my love for gardening) was nursing back to health my cucumber plant. It's something so small, but caring for and raising a garden has been so rewarding. Watching all my babies bloom and grow. To date I have growing: 3 tomato plants, 2 cucumber plants, 1 yellow squash, 1 chili pepper plant, and 1 red bell pepper plant (along with some other very happy herbs). I fully encourage and hope you will try growing something! Spending time outside and giving a little love to plants that will supply you with some delicious veggies is totally worth it. 🌿🌻👩🏽🌾⠀
Pictured is my favorite local nursery and garden center where I have spent a good amount of time this summer 🌶
🌹its like I caught a bug; I just had to get rid of everything I didn't love! I woke up the other day and was thinking "I have nothing to wear"...while staring at my 8 bajillion pieces of clothing... I got so annoyed with myself for having all of this clothes and not even wanting to wear any of it; so I purged. It took me HOURS to strip my wardrobe to the bones (this picture doesn't even represent it anymore, I keep taking more and more unneeded pieces out). Now Its so easy getting dressed in the morning! I feel like I only have clothing I love and feel good in... Less materialistic and a wardrobe that's more representative of moi! Gotta say, it felt weirdly therapeutic to give away and donate the no-longer needed mountain of clothes... I feel so much lighter! Definitely recommend it 🌹

I torsdags var vi på sommarfest på @norstedts_forlag. Vi fick nypa oss lite i armen. Hur hamnade vi här? 😃🙏🏻🥂
Outfiten för Fru Minimalist var den på bilden; kjol från MQ med ca 10 år på nacken, second hand-fyndad sjal från Gant och kabelstickad vit t-shirt från samma märke.
