I know I've been away from IG for a while, but things here in #Venezuela are not going too well, and in consequence, game finding has been slow and also I haven't feel in the mood to post anything since I try to keep my IG politics-free (not so in Twitter, where I've been and still are very active). I'll try to post more stuff in the following days, including pics of the CNC I'm building. Today I'm posting an #StarWars figures set for #Disney Infinity I caught on #ebay a few weeks ago (but just got them in the mail today), a freakin' steal for 5 bucks and free shipping, all three of them #NIB (not anymore, tho). #BobaFett , #MasterYoda and #DarthVader , oh, they look so pretty on my shelf 😄. #toys#collection#collectible#yoda#vader#fett#videogames#gaming
Obscure Character of the Day, Poggle the Lesser. PtL was the leader of the insect-like Geonosians throughout the era of the Clone Wars. Due to his control of the Geonosian battle droid factories, he was a powerful figure within the Confederacy of Independent Systems and commanded the droid armies that fought against the Republic in two battles for control of Geonosis. Later, after 2 years of incarceration, he was "recruited" by the Republic Special Weapons Group to work on his creation, the ultimate super weapon. After sabotaging the project (all pretty cool in Catalyst), he ran and hid with the Separitist Council. At the end of the war, Poggle lost his life to Darth Vader on Mustafar.
Leia: Princess of Alderaan
18th Review by darthdad77
Our 2nd book by Claudia Gray in the new canon. This one was solid, not a great as Lost Stars though.
It was nice to get some of Leia’s backstory that we’ve never gotten. We catch up with her as she is 16 years old and a Junior Legislator, part of a group that will become senators later on in life, and of course as the future Queen of Alderaan.
What struck me was her relationship with her parents. In Lost Stars and really anything else, you never get the idea that she ever had a rough spot with them. But I guess any teenager does, and we land smack in the middle of it. Here and there Leia does come off a bit selfish, whiny and well, like a brat, again I chalk it up to playing up the fact that she is 16. Another fact that I took for granted is that she only just here finds out about the Rebellion and her parents role in it. I had always assumed she was raised a Rebel since day 1.
Another character that we get a deeper look at is Bail Organa, and how stressed he is about the Galaxy’s situation and the Imperial rule. In the prequels, I always saw him as the positive, nothing can bring me down type of guy. Then in Rogue One, with no lines mind you, he looked tired, weary and obviously older. This book does a good job explaining what he goes through.
We of course get a nice bit of Tarkin throughout, and we all know how I love Imperial Officer stories! He’s a douche here of course. It is well understood that he knows the Organa’s are up to something, and he tries to use Leia (and successfully) to figure parts of it out. And without ever saying it outright, I totally get why he destroyed Alderaan in A New Hope.
All in all, it’s a good book, not good enough for my top 5, but probably top half of the new canon. A 3 out 5 Rebel Fleet Troopers would recommend it.
rant (read at own risk): AHHHH!!! i can’t do it anymore. i’m breaking my back for you, adam, & you’re nothing but condescending and rude & unhelpful!!! i’ve been fighting all season to keep this program that i’ve been in for 4 years afloat & it’s killing me. we’ve had bad management before but this is the worst. i’ve had 10000 different meetings with a 1000 different people trying to get everything going & i’ve made you at least 10 different practice schedules bc you keep asking for new ones & a million different game schedules. i’ve given you spreadsheets with years of participation, skill level, different areas of certification & i’ve been very much active and have been working very hard. & i wouldn’t have to do this, if you were so horribly incompetent??? bc you ask me for this stuff & then never use it & ask me to make you a different version of the same information... which you also won’t use!! we’re more than halfway through the season & you still can’t get out a damn game schedule & asked me to do it on a weekly basis so i schedule people & run it through you first & send out the weekly schedule & then you change it!! for no reason!! tell me why the person who went to the first 3 games & has skipped every practice since to make out with her boyfriend in the cross country trail deserves to go to this game over the sophomore who’s been here everyday, getting here early & can’t get scheduled for any games because you keep changing it!! & you’re SO condescending, my GOSH. i’ve been here for 4 years & you’ve been here for... 2 months?? & if i say something simple about how i’m going to do something for the softball team & you put your hand on my shoulder & say “lauren, sweetheart, you need to do *insert exactly what i was doing*, okay???” with that kindergarten teacher voice one more time??? i’m going to scream?? i promise you, i’m a lot smarter than i look & i am extremely experienced. we get it!! you’re 22 & went to some community college in west virginia & now are better than everyone else!!! but that doesn’t mean you have to be rude & talk bad about me to other 15-17 year old girls?? Good Lord, so glad i’m graduating. rant over.
