PSA: Carbs won't kill you... well the good kinds won't. 😉
Simple carbs: fast digesting, spikes the blood sugar, eating in excess ~may~ lead to weight gain 🚫
Examples: white bread, sugar, candy, fruit 🍭
Complex carbs: nutrient dense, more balanced blood sugar spike, fibre filled 💩
Examples: sweet potatoes, brown rice, beans, squash, vegetables 🍠
Making the swap to include more complex carbs and less simple carbs will make a huge difference in your weight, skin, energy levels and all around health. 🆒
My fave carb sources are sweet potatoes, sprouted bread, bananas, berries, rice cakes and vegetables, obviously. 🍃
BTW: Fruit is not bad for you. It has a lot of vitamins and minerals and will always be the healthier option over any processed desserts. I had to include it because it is a simple carb/ sugar and I did not want to LIE TO YOU. The most important thing in a relationship is honesty, right? 🤞

Healthed-up, vegan, gluten free biscuits and gravy 🤤🤗🎉don't have it down perfectly yet, but here's a recipe for the cornmeal biscuits 😁👍🏽 I like to use cornmeal biscuits because I like having an additional layer of flavor and they are easier to make gluten free haha! ---------------------------------------
1 1/2 cup garbanzo bean flour 
3/4 cup fine cornmeal
1/2 cup chilled coconut oil
1 tsp salt
2 tsp baking powder 
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 cups almond milk 
2 tbsp coconut sugar (optional) ---------------------------------------
1. Preheat oven to 375F
2. Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl.
3. As coconut oil and combine until the mixture start to clump together and look like bread crumbs 
4. Add almond milk and slowly mix until just combined.
5. Drop about 1/3 cup scoops of the mixture on to a parchment lined baking sheet 
6. Bake for 15-20 until browning ------------------------------------- You can definitely use something like earth balance if you prefer for these :) They are super good even just with some preserves or almond butter for a quick bite 😋🎉👍🏽 Hope your Tuesday is magical ✨🦄💖

• fall is a ball heh heh • finding balance between veganism, getting enough protein, and keeping my digestive system in relative peace is a little bit of a challenge to me. It's really important that I get plenty of easy-to-digest protein. A great source of that? These pumpkin protein balls from @kayla_itsines ! The inside is oats, almond meal, pecans, pumpkin purée, a little maple syrup, and all those tasty pumpkin spices. Rolled in dedicated coconut and firmed up in the fridge. So so easy! Pro tip though: don't confuse the garlic for the ginger like I did... I scooped most of the garlic powder out before I ran the food processor but these still have the slightest savory kick 😂

Happy Tuesday frands! I've been busy and haven't had much time to photograph meals. Not to mention things are just now starting to get back to normal here after Irma. My regular grocery stops are lacking a bit on the produce and even at the farmers market this weekend there wasn't much as far as produce goes 😞 So, here's a boring picture of a very delicious breakfast. Everything bagel, avocado, sprouts and sesame seeds! Oh and speaking of sprouts, I just sprouted some broccoli seeds in my new sprouting jar and they came out pretty great and was super simple. I've been throwing them on everything because they are crazy healthy and add a nice fresh crunch to everything from burritos bowls to avo toast 👍 I can't wait for the day to have my very own garden!

I love granola. Its a fact. But the thing is, store brought granola is full of crappy ingredients and sugars so I was over the moon to discover @eattroo. They have fresh granola toasting kits which are so easy to use and full of goodness! They are made with real, wholesome ingredients and contain absolutely no artificial ingredients or refined sugars. What I love about their granola is that its full of nourishing, nutritious goodness like oats, seeds and chia seeds and also you control what sweetener/oil you want to add. I made mine with some @belovedates date syrup and it toasted to perfection- my whole house smelt of cinnamon! The granola was perfect- it was crunchy and tasty and the pumpkin seeds provided the perfect crunchy addition. Im so obsessed with this and I've been snacking on this all dayyy long!

A great flavor, texture, and crumb topping, are the three pillars (for me) of a delicious, oven-baked fish. And while it's barely mid-morning, not exactly "fish o'clock," I can fondly recall the first time we made this awesome roasted fish (cod shown here) with lemon-almond breadcrumbs. The topping is a mixture of crushed almonds, GF breadcrumbs, lemon zest, and green onion which blends together to make a truly yummy cap for the cod (or whichever fish you choose). A crumb topping is a useful way to get mileage out of your protein by making it even more filling!

Good morning! Dragged myself out of bed for 5 am bootcamp this morning.. it's SO much harder to get out of bed knowing it's dark, rainy and cold outside but I better change my mentality because it will likely be that way for the next 9 months ... 😬. Made a quick breakfast of a 2 egg scramble with some homemade sausage and baby kale topped with EBB and some coffee with pumpkin spice @nutpods 😀My oldest has preschool this morning and then taking my youngest to see a reptile show nearby with some friends. This allows the nutrients to be more bioavailable (AKA your body will absorb it better) sprouting is known to increase the soluble fiber content and allow for easier digestion. The sprouting process also decreases the carbohydrate content by a little and increase the protein content. So sprouted grains are definitely a win!! 💕xo

Se quiser pode adicionar gotas de chocolate 70% ou mais, amêndoas, nozes, castanhas trituradas... eu usei pedaços de chocolate 70% e não agreguei a massa, os deixei só por cima.

Good morning!! I tossed n turned all night. Boo. Anyone else?! Oh welllllll. I got up and did my piyo sweat routine which I freaking love ❤️. I will never ever tire of this program. It's my all time fave. Then I showered and got ready for work and an now eating up my post workout smoothie...almond cafe latte superfood dessert "salad" ➡️ @shakeology smoothie with @ilikechike pb added in and boosted it with @foursigmatic and @healthworkschef powders and topped with @waldenfarmsinternational pancake syrup, @skinnymixes mocha cool whip, @manitobaharvest hemp seeds, bee pollen and @navitasnaturals cacao nibs💖. T A S T Y 🌾 I have a few quiet moments to myself this morning out on the front porch swing, just me and my coffee. Thinking back over our time in Cali and all of the amazing cookbooks I seemed to find in almost every shop we strolled through. (👆 this perfectly styled shop in San Clement was clearly no exception). Continuing on our "trying new recipes" trend this week (per my husband's request)... last night I made these AWESOME Macadamia Crusted Chicken Tenders from @paleonewbie with Whole30 Honey Mustard by @paleorunningmomma. I had a W30er friend and a non-W30er friend over for dinner last night. Both of them and my husband raved about this dinner.

For the chicken tenders, I doubled the recipe and I actually baked them rather than frying them like she does. I'm sure they would be delicious fried, but I just did not have the energy to stand over a pan and pan fry 16 chicken tenders last night. So, instead I put them on a drying rack on top of a cooking sheet, sprayed the tops of them with olive oil cooking spray and baked at 400 for 30 minutes. I used the convection function on my oven, which helped them to be more brown and not soggy. •
The chicken tender recipe actually has a honey mustard recipe with it, but since we are doing a full on Whole30 right now, we're avoiding honey. So, I searched the inter-webs and found @paleorunningmomma's W30 Honey Mustard recipe and y'all... IT REALLY TASTES LIKE HONEY MUSTARD! It's just 1/2 cup of dates (presoaked in water), 1/4 cup mustard (I used dijon), 3 tbsp of water, 1/2 tsp lemon juice in the blender. Then, drizzle in 3 tbsp olive oil after all of that is blended. I would suggest making a double batch - it's delish. This is definitely going to become a staple in our house! -Danielle

Mondays can sometimes be hard and yesterday was definitely was a tough day (wrote the LSAT) and for those of who have written it before, you know what I'm talking about 🤷‍♀️ I lived off protein bars, specially @risebar @thatsit @yofiit @simplyprotein (not in photo) and they were great and gave me all the macros that I needed to stay alert and energized for the day, but right after I craved something warm, hearty and Mexican-inspired and this totally hit the spot! It's vegan and gluten free too and IT'S AWESOME!

VEGAN CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER MOUSSE
Serves 2:

1 Hass avocado
2 organic strawberries 
1 tbsp agave 
1/2 cup almond milk

Total time to make 5-7 min • Split avocado in two and add to food processor/blender
• Add agave, almond milk, a Vegan protein powder next
• Blend until completely smooth
• Spoon into two dessert cups or small glasses

Random tip- I have a folder in my photos labeled "Love Life" and I save all the silly, funny, cute, magical videos and photos captured so if there is a moment I'm not in amazing spirits I can go into that folder and look at one of over 300 images captured that makes my heart smile and can boost my spirits almost instantly. ❤️

Que rico y que facil de hacer esta arroz caldoso con verduras, gambas y mejillones. Entra genial con este fresquito que tenemos por el norte, a mi ya me apetecen platos de cuchara.
Ingredientes como para 4:
1+1/2☕ tazas de arroz
1 🍐 pimiento italiano
1 🍅 tomate maduro
1 🍈 cebolla
2 o 3 dientes de ajo
1/2 calabacín
1 puñado de gambas
1 lata de mejillones al natural
Aove
Sal 
Azafrán
1 litro de caldo de pescado

Troceamos los ajos, y todas las verduras. En una cacerola de vase ancha ponemos aceite y rehogamos las verduras a fuego medio. Cuando las verduras esten listas añadimos el arroz y lo removemos para que coja el sabor a la vedura, añadimos el caldo, el azafran y dejamos a fuego medio 10 min, añadimos las gambas y los mejillones y sazonamos. Servimos inmediatamente!
