LEG DAYYYYYY with my babe tonight ❤️
First time back with the heavy‘s and I don’t think I did too bad.
(max weight, building up my weight with multiple sets)
Back Squats 3 @ 185lbs
Romanian Deadlifts 3 @ 115lbs
Leg curls & Extensions 20 @ 30lbs
And then I flew across the monkey bars, cuz that’s my new thing 👏🏼🐒
Feels good to be building those calluses back up and ‘trying’ to lift heavy again 😉💃🏻
I went for a little hike this morning. I found a lovely little wooden bridge. The bridge led to a staircase. 🌿☀️ The bridge and the staircase seemed quite symbolic for where I am in my life today. I am crossing over a bridge of the unknown yet I know there is a staircase leading up to higher and better things. I cannot see what lies ahead but I trust that it is where I am supposed to go.
I cross the bridge with courage, faith, and trust that it is the exact place I am supposed to be. I let go of worry, fear, and anxiety, and I travel step by step with the belief that I am on the path to a new world of opportunities. ✨✨ Change isn't always easy, but it is part of life and it only makes it harder when we fight it. So today, I surrender and I cross the bridge to a new life. 💜🦋💜
For finding a new path to roam.
For soft ground to run.
For feeling free.
For swingsets under the trees.
For lavender epsom salt baths to cure these pains.
For moments that make me feel rich.
I love my life.
What are you grateful for?
Why Bali is a great place for solo travellers!
1. Communucation! English is widely used so you won't have any trouble getting around once you're there. Not to mention a large majority of tourists are from English speaking countries so it's a little less daunting.
2. If you want peace and relaxation: Bali is your place! With beautiful, pristine beaches or the mystical jungles and rainforest locations, yoga and meditation retreats, Bali is the perfect place to get away from the stresses of life and simply just 'be' and reflect on life. Not to mention all the massages and Spas around. Bali is the perfect place to go and nurture your soul.
3. You can see so much of Bali in just one trip. One of the things I love about Bali is that it's small enough that you can visit all of the places you want so easily, within just a couple hours of each other.
4. It's so easy to meet people. The list of tours you can go on is pretty extensive and full of tourists, including other solo travellers like yourself, so you'll come across many people from all different walks of life. Whether you're hanging out at a beach club like Potato Head, Finns Beach Club or Mrs Sippy's or lounging out by your hotel pool and bar you'll find yourself chatting to plenty of travellers. When heading out for lunch or dinner in popular areas such as Legian, Seminyak or Kuta you'll find it easy to strike up conversation with others and share your travel experiences.
5. If you're looking for more independence, you'll find it in Bali! Being on your own you have no choice but to make your own decisions and push yourself to do new things.
6. New experiences! Challenge yourself and do things you've never done before that you wouldn't have the opportunity to do back home. Do a white water rafting tour down the Ayung River, trek Mt Batur, do a day cruise to the beautiful island Gili Trawangan, walk on the bottom of the ocean on a sea walk tour, visit the monkey forest in Ubud, visit the waterfalls and hot springs, horse ride on the black sand beaches of Saba...the options are endless and it will boost your self esteem and give you a sense of accomplishment! I started by just reading Braving The Wilderness. Then, I started highlighting it..... and annotating it.... and jotting down notes..... and then going a little bit farther. I'm seeing @brenebrown in less than 48 hours and truly can't wait. In the mean time, I wanted to add a little tribute to Maya Angelou, whose words shaped Brené, and whose words are shaping/have shaped me. I'll be unplugged for awhile, spending time with myself & with this book. To the people who have been asking me: YES, you should absolutely get this book. For me, it couldn't have come at a more perfect time. For anyone struggling to "fit in", anyone who is more into soul-searching than trying to mold themselves into someone they know they aren't: This is the book for you.
That's right! Stay 2 nights or more at any of our family properties during the school holidays and the kids stay FREE! Mountains and valleys, mountains and valleys. Ups and downs. Struggle to the top, fall effortlessly to the bottom. Life is full of mountains and valleys. Sometimes you're at the top, then before you know it *BAM* you're looking up from the bottom of a valley, licking your wounds and trying to figure out how you'll ever make it back up. But you will. That's how it works. You get back up, dust yourself off, and hobble back up that mountain, knowing the whole time in the back of your mind that at some point in your journey you will fall again. Maybe this time though it won't be so far, and maybe you will find a shortcut to the top. Each fall is a learning opportunity. Each fall is a chance to gain insight into yourself and find a better way to climb. Life will never be free of falls or valleys. Let that notion go, it doesn't serve you. When we are prepared we can be equipped with the right tools to climb better, stronger, faster. Take the time to know yourself, what do you need, want, have? What are your strengths? What needs some work? The valleys will come, and you will be the only person who can make the choice to climb back up.
Bali is so incredible; I think I'll add a return trip(or 10) to my vision board! There's just nothing like taking a leisurely stroll through the streets of Ubud and glancing to your left to see THIS magical sight! So colorful, ornate and inviting🔥🌱I love traveling because it allows me to slow down and truly feel alive. It inspires me to take the time to notice things like this, to stop and smell the roses...absorbing the beauty of each little moment and every amazing experience. I bought some lovely handmade items on this street and then Inposted up at a café with a retrear friend and enjoyed a cold brew coffee and a sweet snack. 🙏🏻💖✨(Fun fact!: The little boxes on the steps are a big part of the culture and you'll notice them everywhere. It's a Hindu ritual where they set out offerings, Canang Sari, daily for many different reasons, i.e. on the dash before a drive, for ancestors and to thank the Gods!)

⭐️Day 1, quote from someone who has passed 💪Strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will. Mahatma Gandhi
😌I really love this quote from Ghandi and admire his civil rights efforts. His use of nonviolence to protest and peaceful methods. He did a lot of good in his country that inspired many other civil right activists. 🤦♀️Especially with the events happening over the weekend, over the NFL vs Trump, people have the right to free speech. You can't silence people, and as long as it is peaceful and nonviolent I don't have a personal problem with protesting. ~nuff said
👩 ❤Are you following your head or your heart? 👩❤
In this picture, I'm travelling from Kandahar to Camp Bastion in Afghanistan with the military for one of the projects I worked on during my time in Human Resources.
Working full-time in HR for so long, 9 years, allowed me to see that there were many people who loved their jobs but many people who also didn't! A lot of us feel so lost and stuck but stay in the same job for years because we don't know or think there is anything else out there for us to do, we're scared of starting over, of what people will think if we fail and if we make a fool of ourselves. We think we have nothing else to offer.
During my time working in HR I did a lot of hiring but I also made a lot of redundancies, I saw so many people who had stayed in jobs they didn't like because they believed it gave them stability and security that they needed and here they were being let go. Over time it sank into me that if there wasn't stability in a role that didn't light me up then I might as well spend my time outside of work finding something that did light me up.
If you don't feel that your current job is a true reflection of who you are then you always have the choice to make a change and start exploring other options. It all starts by simply getting outside of your comfort zone, trialling and erroring...enrolling in a course, in a workshop, or seminar, following what feels right as you go along. It may mean that all you needed was something outside of work to fulfil you more or it may mean a whole new direction.
I love this quote by Jim Carey 'It is better to fail at what you love than fail at what you don't'. So start finding out more about what you really love! ❤
'The definition of insanity is doing the same thing every day but expecting a different outcome!' We can't expect the answers to come to us one day out of nowhere, we need to take lots of small actions to create change.
A passion project, new hobby, side hustle or a complete change in career can potentially add so much more fulfilment in your life.
'Most people overestimate what they can do in a year and they underestimate what they can do in two or three decades.' - Tony Robbins
Monday's are tricky. I used to dread them. I used to get sad on Sunday nights knowing Monday was right around the corner.
Now I look at each Monday as a fresh start. Monday is a new opportunity to work on being the best version of myself.
Today was a pretty great Monday. I got my workout in, I drank my shake, I ate well, work was productive, and I got to spend some time relaxing with my husband this evening.
How was your Monday?
A year ago I set out to change the direction of my career, to get out of restaurant management. While working full-time I finished a three month internship in ad-tec and a 10 week certification course in Digital Marketing. Last month I left my full time management position without a concrete back up plan. So many people told me not to do it unless I had another job lined up, but my state of mind was no longer healthy and I had to do what was best for me. Over this past month I have learned to let things go more easier, to not stress so much over things that are not in my control. When you find true happiness within your self the universe opens doors for you that were not once there. The Universe will listen, you just have to remain positive and open. Today I find balance within myself, gaining back control over my life that I lost due to my job. Over this past month I learned who I am again and what is important to me. There will be more changes to come and I am finally excited to see what I can do now with my new found freedom and happiness. .
I've been thinking alot about duality.
I've been thinking about the masculine and feminine energy we all carry (the #yin and the #yang ), the light and the dark.
When I was in high school I was excessively yang'ed up. From dancing more, aggressively pursuing my goals, focused on the external, fast at making decisions, meat eating and quite the type A woman. .
College intensified those things more, but I also started to subtly connect with my yin side (introspection , quiet time, prayer/meditation, and being more aware of my body and inner world.
My last trip to Asia made me get on the other side of the pendulum and really give a lot of attention to my inner world. I realized that the masculine in me (that go getter/type A) is in need of healing and attention. What do I mean?
Once upon a time I almost reached burnout because I was chasing goals just to chase them. I was focused on DO-ing and not BE-ing. I was using all my gifts for everyone but myself. I allowed others to abuse my energy and i shut down that part of me. I didn't want to be responsible and get stuff done because I was hurt. I didn't realize that those very skills I had was what I needed to start investing in myself and thriving in my business Made To Live. I haven't been giving myself and therefore y'all -100% because I shut that part down. But #healing and change starts with #awareness .
I'm giving love and attention to the masculine in me, so that energy can go to work for the feminine in me who is ready to create and paint the world with beauty. ✨✨🙇🏽👸🏽
🗣 balance of our duality is the key. Take inventory of where you are. Excess on either side is no bueno. Thoughts on this topic? Write below 🖤💋#madetolive#truth#yinyang#duality#art#realtalk#vulnerability
“Society worships her, craves her, places her on a pedestal of sexuality. But as soon as she sees what they see, as soon as she loves herself as they love her, they accuse her of vanity, of conceit. Please tell me why are they allowed to see the beauty she radiates.. but she is not.” -L.E. Bowman

Becoming ONE with nature 🌳🌾 Many people have transformative experiences in nature after bringing yoga into their lives. One reason for this profound feeling of connection is that we are all made up of the same elements: earth, wind, fire, water, and space. If we pay close enough attention during our yoga practice, we feel these elements in our own body. We feel the moisture in our mouth and eyes; the earthy weight of our skeleton; the wind of our breath moving in, out, and through us; the warm fire of our digestive organs. And finally, when we get quiet enough, we feel the vastness of space within and around us.

If you were to have told me a year ago, this would be in my backyard, I wouldn't have believed you. But, here I am in a place I never want to leave. The sky seems bigger, the sun burns brighter, and the mountains rule this land. This adventure is something I never want to end 💕 #idaho#exploreidaho#nature#mountains#snow#adventure#findyourself

Learning to find myself again 🕉✨ •
After witnessing a car accident from my back porch just moments before hot yoga, it invoked a lot of memories and emotions. •
Thoughts of my own past accidents rushed through me. I knew that my intentions tonight were set. I knew that I had to celebrate that I'm still alive. That there's a reason I survived 9/9/09. There's a reason I survived 11/28/16. •
And I now must continue to harness that energy. Channel it for all those who no longer have the chance to. Because in a split second, it could all be gone.
