How to Balance your Metal Element Pt. 2
Change up your routine- Take stock of what no longer works for you and add something different.
Stop and Smell the Roses - Keep fragrant flowers around your home or use therapeutic scents that enliven you and encourage you to breathe deeply
Dry Brushing - Full body exfoliation and lymph massage can help to slough off the dead skin and get things moving
Acupuncture - Lung /Large Intestine Tonification and working with the Po to encourage the “coming and going of the essence”.
Energy Work - Need help identifying where you are stuck? Energy work can help to identify and unblock these areas to allow flow and make space for energies beneficial to your growth.
Meditation - Set intentions for letting go and allowing space for things that nourish your soul.
Qigong- Daoyin specifically for lungs/metal.
Pranayama - yogic breathing practices, specifically ones that work with the first and second chakra. Also, any which help with detox and elimination.
C-sections are another form of the birth process. This week, rather than whisper to my client that she is so strong and how amazing she is after peaks of contractions and pushing, I whispered "this is your birth, you are so strong, so amazing and this is your birth", in an operating room. She didn't need to push or dilate any further. This was her birthing moment nonetheless, and as her #holistic#doula I had her back.
Flashback to a half hour before we were in the OR. Her nurse and I talked about how momentous #birth is, in all of it's forms and how no two are the same. This nurse emphasized how momentous the daily act of bringing forth life is, every day of pregnancy, everyday that you are creating another person's sensory organs and everything in between!
Holistic refers to holism, which is the synthesis of the mind, body and heart connection in health and healing. The power of the birthing mother comes in many forms. There are some instances where external interventions are necessary, and this power is ever present.
We as supporters have the honour to witness the many ways of expressing choice. Choosing a model of care that feels best for you is your birth right.

Raw Pineapple Cheesecake bars!
1.5 cups raw almonds
8 dehydrated figs or pitted medjool dates
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon salt
Combine above ingredients in a food processor, streaming the vanilla in while the motor is running. When the mixture begins to ball on the sides it’s ready. Transfer to a greased glass brownie pan. Use a flat bottom bowl…or your hands… to press the crust evenly into the pan. Work the crust up the sides.
2 cups raw cashews, soaked 1 hour and drained
4 cups fresh pineapple, chopped
3/4 cup raw honey
1/3 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice
1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon sea/kosher salt
1 cup coconut oil
Place above ingredients in a high-speed blender or food processor and process until smooth, about 3-5 minutes. Scrape the sides down with a spatula. Pour half of the mixture onto the crust and refrigerate for 1-2 hours or until the filling sets. Top with chopped pineapple and prepare to be blown away 🍍🍍💨 I added dehydrated pineapple on top. •

If there's one thing I'm scared of, it's not living 😳. And I don't mean I'm scared of death, because that's not it 🙄. Living is a whole different thing to just being alive. Everyone has goals, dreams, desires, things they "want to do" ➡️ but majority of us hold back and don't chase those things — maybe out of fear or maybe out of the belief that they don't think it's possible? How to Balance Your Metal Element Pt. 1
The Autumnal Equinox ushers in the Season of Metal in Chinese Medicine (CM) . Metal corresponds to two organs in the CM system: the Lungs and the Large Intestine. As with each of the main organs in CM, there is a corresponding emotion and virtue. Metal corresponds to Grief and Integrity/ “Appreciation of preciousness”. The essential psycho-emotional character of this element is a “coming and going”. Like the Lungs, it’s taking things in and exhaling to allow fresh, nourishing breath to enter again. Like the Large Intestine, it’s the absorption of nutrients, moisture and an evacuation of toxins and waste. Emotionally speaking, the Autumn season is taking stock of the things that nourish you and letting go of all the metaphorical and literal sh*t in your life; It’s allowing things to arise and gently letting go.
When we experience loss and cannot process letting go, we experience grief. Yet if we are able to appreciate the preciousness of what was lost, we can create space for something new.
Common Physical Symptoms of Disordered Metal: Asthma, allergies, stress-related skin problems, bowel disturbances, restlessness, chronic tension and pain, unexpressed embodied emotional issues.
Emotional/Spiritual Symptoms of Disordered Metal: obsessions, anxieties, depression, a vague feeling that something isn’t right, but no clear sense of why, extreme sensitivity to outer influences on a psychic or even wei-qi level (ex: other people’s negativity “gets in” without awareness), “Stuck Destiny”: being unable to move on in life; repetitive karmic cycles typically indicating that one is unable to process and move on.
Squat Talk 🍑🙂 Which squat do you think is more effective for building the glutes?

The difference between these squats is mind/muscle connection and glute/core engagement.
I incorporate pause squats into my workouts at least once a week with a barbell or a cable.
Pause squats forces you to recruit all possible muscle fibers in your glutes + engages your core like no other! -
I want you to picture 2 different things doing a pause squat 👉🏼 During the eccentric movement (going down) picture your glute muscles spreading, growing and tightening by to engaging your mind to your muscle 👉🏼 Imagine you are wearing a tight band (like a corset) around your entire core. Brace it, feel it getting tighter and tighter then take a deep breath using your belly while you pause.
Why is this important?
This will ultimately get the most out of your muscle. The more connected you are with your muscles, the more receptive they will be while lifting.
Being connected with your body and recruiting as many muscle fibers as possible during specific exercises is critical to build mass!
Heck yes there is a time and place for regular squats (power lifting, strength testing etc.) but breathing pause squats are a completely different strength test on there own.

Give me all the On Guard‼️‼️ I have been diffusing this oil a few times a week and we have yet to experience anything more than a runny nose this year. With three kids that's an almost impossible feat.
Last year by this time we had gone through several ear infections, sore throats, colds/coughs, stomach flu, and even a febrile seizure! The latter being a very scary event as my son stopped breathing for what seemed like an eternity, but was probably only 5-10 seconds. So NOT fun!
That is why I started looking into essential oils in the first place. I was sick of shoving medicine down my kids' throats (not literally shoving 😉). I can't think of any other reason why my kids have been healthier this year. They're typical kids, what I sometimes call petri dishes, and they get sick every year--but not this year! Can I get an amen mommas!

I have leftover produce if anyone would like to come over & make their own just bring a jar and your own apple cider vinegar/herbs 🤗✨in this jar I added cayenne powder, whole black pepper, fresh thyme, fresh ginger root, horseradish root, onion, fresh garlic, fresh turmeric root, orange zest, orange, lemon zest, lemon, jalapeño(all organic)! 🌿🌾
Fall is here and winter is near, so it's time to polish up those soup and stew recipes! 🍃🍁🍂 I made a simple kidney bean and potato 🥔 soup ! This soup is full of potassium, which is an electrolyte required for appropriate balance in heart function, muscle contraction, digestion and more ! 💪
Signs and symtoms of low potassium usually present as constipation, skipped heart beats, fatigue, muscle weakness and tingling. ⚡
4.7 grams of potassium daily is recommend to keep those levels within normal limits. This soup contains at least 4 grams alone with 1 cup of kidney beans and 3 small potatoes! Also garlic, onion, potato skin and parsley were added for bolder flavor 😋
Keep up with your health through diet and exercise. Sometimes health dysfunctions result merely from what you are and are not putting into your body! .
