It’s not an apple or a pear… it’s quince! We may not see it very often, and it’s maybe not as easily accessible as the more common fruits we use, but if you do get your hands on one, eat it! It’s full of vitamin C and health benefits. Its ‘magical powers’ include reducing the appearance of wrinkles, protecting the skin from UV rays, improving the health of hair follicles, boosting the immune system, maintaining optimal blood pressure, aiding in weight loss AND preventing illnesses such as cancer and cardiovascular disorder.
Quince is native to Eurasia and is often used in jams and jellies, but it’s best consumed raw with its skin on. Let us know where you’ve seen some fresh quince (so we can buy it all) – it’s in season!
