Okay, okay. I get it now. Riced cauliflower is tasty and exceedingly adaptable. I've seen so many vegan fried cauliflower rice dishes lately I finally said to myself, "self: we need to try this." Tonight I did and the results were epic. I shall post the recipe with haste.
So I realize it appears that all I do is arm balance and handstand from my @instagram account. I swear it's a small part of practice, in fact it's usually play after or in between real practice. I've been working on some of my weaknesses daily and #straddlesplit is certainly not a pose I like to hang out in or can even do for that matter. My adductors/ groin/ inner thighs scream here and in frog pose. I've been sitting with legs against wall daily for five minutes to try and work on this. So here's all the fun in one minute. Not so exciting, but something extra I do outside my practice each day to improve mobility. If anyone has any tips I'd be happy to hear them!
So we all know that you're not supposed to stare at the sun, especially during an eclipse (except for Donald Trump apparently). But gazing at the sun at sunrise and sunset for short amounts of time is actually an ancient yoga technique that promotes vitality, boosts your mood, and increases your energy. In case you needed another reason to get out and catch the sunset tonight. 🌅 This was the beautiful sunset on the Cape yesterday. Ok, now put down your phone and get outside.
Registrations are rolling in for our next (and last one for the year) intake of the Postnatal Yoga Program.
This course runs for 6 consecutive Sundays, starting 5 Nov, and is usually SOLD OUT.
Click on the link in the bio for full details. Pre payment is requested to confirm your participation. See you back on the mat, Mummies ❤️
When you begin to touch your heart or let your heart be touched, you begin to discover that it's bottomless, that it doesn't have any resolution, that this heart is huge, vast, and limitless. You begin to discover how much warmth and gentleness is there, as well as how much space.
I lost my shit today. I yelled and screamed and, literally, wanted to physically assault someone. I am not proud; I am actually VERY ashamed of my choice of behaviors today. I reacted instead of responding... which is always a bad idea. I preach to my yoga students about finding their breath and breathing through the pose, because it teaches us to breathe through life. I did not today. The problem, the hurt, seemed too much.
But it wasn't. It never is. I didn't feel better after my ridiculous reaction, but I felt better after I sat down and breathed. When I found my breath, I was able to set that hurt free...

When you ask your client to take a photo for you, set up the shot, and give a mini camera tutorial. A few out of focus shots later, you get one. Thanks Victoria for putting up with me. 😂 Meanwhile, I'm still in need of new yoga photos... any photographers want to do a trade? 📸😉🙏🌼
We (Matt) drove from 11 hours to make it into the full eclipse path. We found a random city, a random park and a stranger gave us a pair of glasses 😎 it lasted about 2 minutes and change but it was wild: such a reminder of the vast unknown, our human limitation, how much we think we know and definitely do not. We are tiny little earthlings with immense potential. Thank you mysterious universe for showing us your magic.
Fearlessly Real! Are You? If you choose to hurt others, you choose to hurt yourself, you choose to hurt everyone. Choose Love. Let go of that ego, and choose love. If you choose love everyone grows. #liveyouryoga#love#yogabymariejean
Learning how to breathe through it all, the sunshine and the rain. Learning how to let go and let God. Learning to choose faith, hope and love over fear and doubt. Daily choices of my heart, not just my head. Learning that progress doesn't mean perfection and a grateful heart always prepares the way. It's amazing what a morning like this will reveal when softened. -
Working on #marichyasanad - I see the progress definitely not perfection. Thankful for these #mysoremornings my @superyogapalace community, and teacher @kristashirleyyoga
✨Watching the total solar eclipse in the river was unlike anything I've ever experienced. It's a memory that will always be with me and I feel forever changed by it! ✨
It's so hard to put seeing the eclipse in totality into words so all I can say is my heart is filled with a new wonder for this world and gratitude for this life I've been given. ✨
✨🙏May we all love the life we live...🙏✨
I am like mumma bear proud here 🐻❤️. So many hands to heart and face moments as I watched on in awe and admiration at my beautiful little yogi bears tonight. Floating gracefully, falling with laughter and getting straight back up, and just being the most playful bunch - look at you all go - stronger every week!! You guys have the most beautiful energy and make my "job" pure bliss. I cannot wait for next weeks class. I apologise again to your arms and shoulders in advance.
Big love to you all @forsteryogastudio #lovemyjob
I'm so grateful to my stubborn muse who kept whispering to put coconut in the black beans. Coconut in the black beans, I said? That's madness, I said. I'll ruin the whole thing, I said. Then we'll have nothing for dinner, I said.
But she knew better.
One can of black beans with a quarter cup of coconut milk and a squeeze of lime was the "meat" of this operation and it was kuh-razy good. ✨The rest of the filling is a cabbage and raddish slaw, sautéed poblano and onions, and a couple slices of perfectly ripe avocado. And don't forget the Cholula!
I think the bean combo would also make a great bean dip, especially with sweet potato corn chips. So: should I post the recipe as a dip? Or would you prefer the recipe for tacos? Tell me which you prefer and I'll post the recipe/instructions on the site. 😍
Tuesday Sunrise starts tomorrow, and we're kicking it off with @jazeyoga taking over our Instagram! Follow along and get a sneak peek inside Jaz's day! Jazmine started practicing yoga in 2008 as a part of the P90x series. In 2015 after completing her second half marathon, she attended her first yoga class and fell in love with the practice even more. As a runner, she quickly realized that yoga was not only physical but mental and spiritual as well. With that realization she decided that she wanted to deepen her understanding and knowledge base. She was accepted into the 200 hour YTT program at Pink Lotus Yoga Center. During training she wanted to learn even more about the practice and traveled to Phuket, Thailand to take several yoga classes. While there she learned that yoga was indeed universal practice. She completed YTT in June 2017 and loves that yoga has allowed her to quiet her inner athlete.
Sandalwood, lapis lazuli and white Tridacna beads complete this simple, traditional mala.
#sandalwood : its scent is both excellent for staying present and alert during meditation, it is said to transform desires, and also to bring emotional balance.
#lapislazuli quickly releases stress, bringing deep peace. It brings harmony and deep inner self-knowledge.
#Tridacna is the spiritual thing for Buddhist, it protect you from evil spirit. .
Tonight's dinner bowl- sautéed collard greens, baked sweet potato, tri-color quinoa, zataar roasted chickpeas and avocado. I love making buddha bowls for lunch or dinner. There are so many options, are tasty and so filling! Try it!
Total Eclipse + New Moon in Leo 🌚☀ such a special day. With cloud coverage I wasn't able to see it myself but I could feel the energy. It was touching to have my feeds filled with happiness, excitement and gratitude. As I saw coverage there were people of all ages, races, people with different beliefs all coming together to see the magic of our world. Pretty cool if you ask me. I told Max it was important for me to practice yoga today and I asked him if he would too. Gratitude for a total Eclipse followed by energy of new beginnings with the New Moon. Eclipse: a time to cut out what no longer serves me. New Moon in Leo: heart energy, warmth and light. Thinking about my intentions and goals I want to see happen over the next 6mo. A glimpse of our evening together. He makes my soul happy 🌙😊💙 #liveyouryoga#setintentions#totaleclipse#newmooninleo#powerfulstuff
I am soaking up these monkeys and what's left of summer.
The air is already starting to smell and feel like the beginnings of fall.
I was lucky enough to take the summer off from work and spend it with the kids and with only 2 weeks left before my oldest begins grade 2 and my youngest begins kindergarten, I've been trying to be more present and more playful.
Here we are at the lake looking for bugs and birds and just the right piece of grass to make a fishing rod 😄
