Woodson Lynne Overman was born September 19, 1887 in Maryville, Missouri. He attended Blees Military Academy & Missouri University before he worked as a racehorse jockey. Overman made his stage debut in Milwaukee come 1907 and joined the US Navy during WWI. After the war, he acted in vaudeville and made his Broadway debut in April 1919. Overman married Ziegfeld girl Emily Drange in 1922 and made his West End debut in 1924. A brief uncredited role in The Perfect Clue for Joseph Kennedy's studio Film Booking Offices (FBO) was his first film part; his talkie debut was in a Paramount short Kisses (1929). He acted on Broadway through 1934 when he signed with Paramount. He remained at Paramount through most of his film career until a heart attack killed him on February 19, 1943. His last film was Warner Brothers' The Desert Song (1943). Overman was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery. This still was from his fifth film for his home studio, Enter Madame!
