Run/hike with the kids this morning. Right at the entrance we saw an Acorn Woodpecker up close and a few ground squirrels. I wasn't able to take a photo of them. As we were leaving, we saw a Golden Eagle flying over us. I was able to take a video of it. Here's some photos I took of other wildlife we saw like a lizard🦎, a deer 🦌and a group of turkey 🦃
Honestly, one of the most challenging longs runs I've had to complete. ☠️💀 (68.5 total miles for the week). Did 2 miles earlier in the day with a family friend visiting from Ireland, and then set out for 18.5 by myself... super late start due to some things that came up today, so I knew half of the long run would be in the dark. Not ideal and not planned. I was really anxious about this (I never used to have such fear...). To be completely transparent - half way through the run I wanted to quit SO bad. Not enough sleep, exhausted mentally and physically, tired legs from a high mileage week, super anxious and on edge. I took some fuel, shed a few tears, and kept going. It wasn't fun...in fact it felt miserable (especially in the dark). And THEN, some ass hats decided to scream really loud at me from their car as they drove by to purposely startle me. I was very close to the end of my run, really shaken up, and really PISSED. I caught up to them at a stop light and flipped them off - they yelled back, "hey that wasn't nice!" I don't even care. Not the best choice in the moment on my part, but what they did wasn't nice. I am a woman, running alone at night...don't you dare make me feel unsafe because you think it's funny. Training isn't always peaches and cream. This sucked, I'm not going to lie to you. But I got the miles in and I didn't quit. Stick a fork in me, beer me, I'm resting tomorrow. The end. 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️
Well, can’t say that I am surprised not getting in when there were 317,000 ballot entries. Try again next year 🤞the plan was alway to run Tokyo & Boston in 2019 anyway but thought I would give it a go.
Today was the first time in months that I ran 3 miles🙏🏻Honestly, it’s been a struggle to get back into the rhythm of my runs & feeling motivated to😔 I’ve gained weight & there’s days I’m happy with myself but then when I start running & I struggle with each mile, I think I shouldn’t have had that donut, or pizza slice. 😩😤 Today helped me realize that it doesn’t matter what the scale says. I’m a runner. Small. Big. Fast. Slow. I AM A RUNNER 🏃👟💖 #girlswhorun
Long run done this Sunday evening. Not by choice but all 6 alarm times were ignored this morning.🤦🏽♂️🤐I watched Berlin Marathon and it was too late. So, I ran 16 miles earlier. Goal was run it at new GMP pace. Happy to say that I ended doing the 16 miles at 8 seconds faster than the new GMP. 👊🏽I am now confused how to strategize my marathon in Chicago in 2 weeks. Kipsang and Bekele dropping the race makes me think if adjusting my pace would affect me negatively. Any suggestions?
Love seeing T1Ds crush the running game. Check out Jordan's insta for more inspiration - Jordan Hoese, age 24, diagnosed in 2005. Originally from CA, but currently in my third year of medical school in Dallas, TX. "Hi, I am @jordhoes and I have had T1D since age 12 and ran my first marathon at age 14! I was lucky to have excellent role models and a support team who never made me feel like there was anything I couldn't do because I had T1D. I ran cross country all through high school and was captain of the marathon team in college -- we actually had three T1Ds on the team! Now I'm training for my sixth marathon with Beyond Type Run, and I am loving the opportunity to show the world that having Type 1 Diabetes doesn't mean you can't get out there and challenge yourself physically! Happy Running!!"
Todays Run BUT had a Hitch: This mornings 10k was cancelled last week W/O any public notice nor thru media.😣😣😣. I gave up early in week to sit out The Great Race 10k in Pittsburgh to find out the closer race was cancelled.😤😤😤. Sad also as Pitts race was giving out inaugural finishers medals this year for 10k/5k races.😢😢.
Anyway, i went out to bike trail and did 6.5mi with some hills thrown in. Progresively got hotter by the hour ☀🔥☀🔥BUT had to go run to clear my head.😀. Too hot later on as is was above 90*F. 1/2mi CoolDown after. Really hate SNAFU but better than NO run at all. Really jad to dig deep this morning mentally and physically to do A run and deal with this Heat Wave since last Thursday.😎🔥🏃😎🔥🏃.
Felt better after and had pizza calling my name.🍕🍕🍕. Great Race 10k will be there next year.😉
First run in over 2 weeks! 😳I was so happy to get out for a run tonight I just took off and ended up going pretty fast for the first half mile. My best pace was 8:14! That's an awesome pace for me. 👍I enjoyed running through my new neighborhood for the first time too! We should be completely moved in to our new home this week so hopefully I can get back to running regularly. Life has been so hectic it feels really good to get a run in!! Happy Sunday friends!! 🙋#running#lovetorun#runnersofinstagram#instarunners#cardio#fitness#fitnessmotivation
Busy day! But we managed to get 6.1 miles in and even did them along the ocean in Delray Beach followed by a pint of @guinness while we booked @airbnb places to stay for our trip to Ireland in a month for the @dublinmarathon! Spent the afternoon making a fire pit and the evening hosting family dinner night followed by s'mores in the fire pit! Life is good! Especially when you get to share it all with such an amazing woman. Love you @the4bz!
Closed out today with a 10K run, and a total of 26.2 miles for the weekend 👊🏼. Mixed in some strides and even though my legs were so tired from yesterday, my paces were strong, and I felt good! These legs are learning to run fast when fatigued and I'm finally right where I want to be. The weather is about to get really hot this week (again), so I'm adjusting expectations for my workouts in the coming days. Feeling so grateful for a strong week of running behind me. The rare good days in running make the frequent hard days much more bearable 💜
