@s_buck0920 doing some RDLs (Romanian Deadlifts) for the first time last night. I love getting the opportunity to work with strong women all day everyday!! Because of distance, I don't get to see Shannon in person as much as I'd like, so she follows my programming at her home gym most of the time. This works well for both of us--she works well independently with some guidance and support remotely from me, but then I also get to see her at least once per month in person to go over technique and new movements. #plantosucceed #begreat #romaniandeadlift #onlinetraining #onlinepersonaltraining #girlswholift #girlswhopowerlift #strongmom

Yummmmmmm I LOVE pumpkin! Any and all things pumpkin! Which usually means something unhealthy for you. But not today friends! Here is a simple and easy breakfast recipe for delish Pumpkin Overnight Oats ❤️🎃

Ingredients:
1/4 cup uncooked oats
1/4 cup pumpkin purée
1 tbsp. flaxseed 
1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
2 tsp. pure maple syrup
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
*Pecan pieces optional

Directions:
Combine and mix all ingredients together (except pecans) in a mason jar or airtight container. Be sure to store in fridge. When preparing to eat, add optional pecan pieces and some almond milk to thin out oatmeal. Enjoy cold or I prefer heating for about 45-60 seconds 🎃❤️

Why do you want to be strong? It's a question I'm asked a lot. And it's not, when really digging into it, an easy and quick answer. But, I usually answer with: Why wouldn't I want to be? Like being strong, and having muscles is something exclusively for men. I remember when I started. In my Small Town USA gym, where the eye of the active storm was more running based. I wanted to lift weights. And that seemed foreign, even to my trainer at the time. Looking at my wide-eyed, 18 year old, eager self, she gave me what was standard protocol for a women in fitness. Light weights and cardio. Not knowing any better, that's where I started. Exactly 15 years ago this month. For almost 5 entire years, I moved those light weights around in a shuffle. Did my time on the elliptical or treadmill. Then I'd had enough. I did my research, found what I was looking for, but not having the experience, I sought out a different trainer. One that "got it." With her help, I used that year to start my path to being bigger. Stronger. I ended up going back to school to become a trainer, pairing that up with my already in place nutrition degree. I wanted to break the cycle. Break the stereotype. Inspired by my journey to get there, and inspired by that second trainer I had. Women can be strong. Women can have muscles. Now, it's not just about being strong. Having those muscles. It's about the resilience of my body. Yesterday's workout was all about arm ladders. My favorite way to test that resilience. 💪

I got a quick food shop in today post Bootcamp and before my hair appointment.  Phew! And its the perfect opportunity to share my Fit Mom Tip for today 👉🏻 How do you carry your shopping? •

Carrying heavy shopping bags is another task we all do regularly and perhaps don't give a lot of thought to because it's one of those tasks that just has to be done right! 😏😬 But done with care carrying the shopping can be a great core workout. Done wrong it can cause injury and prevent healing of your core system. 🙅🏻

So, here are tips for your heavy shopping bags:
1️⃣ Try to split the load into an equal number of pages and then distribute the weight evenly on each side so that you can maintain level hips (horizontal), you do not twist the core, you are not leaning to one side.
2️⃣ As you prepare to pick up the bags inhale and fill the belly and then exhale and activate the deep core muscles (TVA) and lift the pelvic floor.  Once your core is activated lift the shopping by squatting down or performing a deadlift by hinging at the waist.  Drive up through the heels. Do not round out the back. Don't arch the back and push the belly forward.  Do the same squat/deadlift to lower the shopping.
3️⃣ Walk tall, shoulders down, breasts horizontal (as far as they can 🙄😉🙃) and take short strides.  This is like a farmers walk - a great core move for new moms. 
4️⃣ I sometimes joke about how I carry all the shopping in one go (I live in a flat on the sixth floor), but if you need to do several trips or ask for help do it!  It's not worth the boast that you did it in one to put your back out or injury your healing core.

So I have been battling this cold and have pretty much ZERO energy! Whenever I feel this way I get a little blue 😞! When I saw this quote today it totally changed my outlook and made me feel a million times better. Tuesdays are a little later start for us since I don't have to be to work until 9 a.m.
So, I might have hit snooze quite a few times knowing that I had an extra hour! 🙈

Knowing that little miss was sleeping in the hallway (she wakes up and moves in the middle of the night) I tried hard to sneak downstairs! 
After about ten minutes I heard little footsteps wandering their way down the stairs and over to me! 
I got a little break and put on some cartoons. 
It's crazy how things work though. This morning I was struggling through each move but after my little girl joined me I was not about to give up! That girl is the one person that pushes me harder than ever! 
Needless to say I pushed through each move and I showed her what not giving up looks like. 
My kids are my biggest motivators to stay healthy. This mom is going to be around for a long time annoying them! 😉
