Another shot from last Saturday's Milky Way mission. Not pictured here is a handful of dead, smelly fish right behind the reflection and a large, unidentified creature to the left of the boat ramp that went unnoticed and didn't jump in the water until 5 minutes after we got to the spot. Either a gator or a chupacabra I think.
We had to walk around many swamps and jump over tiny rivers during our hike in Landmanalaugar! It was quite fun! Exhausting but fun 😆

There are many ways to go forward: on water, on solid ground, on wings. But one thing doesn’t change, whatever terrain we are threading, God is with us, preparing our way and holding our hand through it, guiding us, giving us counsel. Trust in God, put your hope in Him and He will renew your strength.

Some talk about the outdoors as being an escape; an opportunity to get away from ‘reality,’ whatever that means.
I don’t know. It’s one of my favourite places to have great conversations with our kids about every topic under the sun and moon, including politics, religion, and animal poop. More a catalyst for dialogue about ‘the real world’ than an escape from it. Or maybe, an escape from the many distractions in the non-wild real world that can get in the way of great conversations. So yeah, I guess the whole escape paradigm kinda does work.
P.S. future political candidates if you want our children’s future votes, I would highly suggest fighting all you can to ensure there’s plenty of wilderness for them to continue exploring someday. Seriously. Don’t be a chump, or anything that rhymes with it.
