Trail running you can't skip a beat. All your senses are plugged in to what is in front of your feet. Where will your feet land next? How can you keep your ankles safe? Your senses are aware of the textures, the shadows, the anticipation of the next moment. Can you speed up? Do you shift your weight forward or backwards into the base of your heels as you fly downhill? Like climbing, the world around you stops for a moment...and that's why I love these sports. Besides my qaulity time spent with her and the excuse to see the sunrise. #trailrunning#trails#bouldercolorado#downhillrunneronly#home#fly#discipline#slowupjetdown
Run like you ride – #TERREXcmtk with @continentalmtb tire outsoles. "The tire shared many of the properties we were looking for in a shoe – rubber which gives you a lot of rebound and is very dynamic over short contact times.” - Christian Zwinger, footwear designer #adidasTERREX .

Good morning from the 10th Mountain Division Hut! Starting day four of the #hutrunhut - with @rickeygates leading the charge. We started in #Aspen on Monday and have run our way from Margy's to Betty Bear hut to here. Today we head to Camp Hale and the Jackal Hut, and then have a day up high on ridges to Shrine Mountain Inn. Saturday the whole adventure will come to a close when we run down into #Vail , wrapping up the six-day, five hut, 100+ mile adventure. #trailrunning#10thmtnhuts#aspentovail#longdays#coloradotrail
Today was a great reminder to stop and connect with others. I didn't hit the 10-miles I set out to run due to time constraints. But, I shared a wonderful conversation with a HERO today on the trail. He told me about his running days and time in Vietnam. He even let me pet his sweet dog 🐶 Carmel.
I could have passed him by and finished the last 2 miles but I would had missed a beautiful opportunity. #bekind#loveoneanother#trailrunning#doggie#hero#runner#hiker#runnermom
I need to thank @franzsnideman and @primalspeed for reinvigorating my love of sprinting.
Sprinting is a physical superpower. Being able to propel yourself from a dead start to max speed takes a tremendous amount of strength, power, and motivation.
I've realized that maintaining my sprinting lends its hand to not only my athleticism, but how my body creates strength from the inside out. This has helped me to pull a 500lb deadlift and still run a 4.3 40yard dash.
Here is a taste of the warmup I go through before each sprinting session:
1. A skips
2. Running C's
3. B skips.
Then the fun begins.... How often do you sprint in your training program?
This week has been a struggle mentally for me. Can't focus, trying to do too much at once, and dealing with personal stuff has really gotten to me. I have made it a point to start to focus on one thing at a time. My one thing to focus on this week was my mind.
On the days I can, I start with my trail run. I've done a lot of yoga and meditation too this week. Today is mile 8 logged for me this week on the mountain. There is something about the serenity of it. Just me and my heavy metal radio (surprised?) No thoughts allowed. Not to mention it was 62° when I headed out this morning!
" I am much more relaxed and attentive to my body in my training than I was in college, which I think has helped me a lot. Before I would be obsessed with running certain pace for every run and workout, even when it was evident my body was overly tired. While I thought it was outside pressures causing me to do this, as I have grown I've come to realize it was really myself." I know it's a day late, but hey, I was busy yesterday. Here's our very own @stevierich99 with his Words Of Wisdom Wednesday, otherwise know as
Why Body Glide is my favorite OCR accessory.
I learned early on in my running that I LOVED body glide but it was one of the most god awful pains I have ever experienced that caused me to love it. I was doing my first extended run (some call them LSD - long slow distance - run) - it was over an hour. I was about 1/4 of a mile away from my ending point and decided to do an all out sprint to the finish - and that is when the most awful pain I ever felt in my life hit me. I thought I had been shot in the ass!!!!!! I was at a stop sign at 123rd and Leavenworth road and my first step into my sprint - I thought my ass cheeks had been ripped off. I couldn't hear the scream I let out because of my ear phones but I can only imagine that if someone heard them, they thought I was being mugged. I am not proud of this moment but I knew that I needed something for those long runs - BODY GLIDE was it.
Couple of points on using it:
1. You put it in places that rub together - butt cheeks, private parts (double check), toes (if you easily get blisters on your toes - this helps out ALOT), thighs, etc.
2. Helps you put on compression socks - rub some on your toes, top of your feet and pull the socks over - they go on and come off super easy (Thank you Greg Yocom).
3. Sometimes you will feel awkward putting it on because of where it goes - get over this quickly - trust me it is better than not wearing it.
4. I put it on about 15 -20 minutes before a race/run - the reason why, if you go to the bathroom (#2 ) - then you will wipe it off at the end ;-)
4. DON'T FORGET IT ON RACE DAY! (see story below)
The Cattle Trail certainly lived up to its name as we rounded the corner to find a heard of Highland Cows, who displayed no desire to move out of our way as we passed through.
Running in the mountains above Lugano proved to be an incredible way to see the area. Lush forests scatter the mountainside, with leaves already starting to show their Autumn colours. Occasionally you'll pop out into the high alpine, with views down to the lakes below.
Ticino had a lot to offer for the weekend. A fusion of Italian style and Swiss beauty. 🇮🇹 🇨🇭 @niki_papadimitriou grabs a shot of the heard, somewhere in the middle of our 42km running day. Not quite the 20km that we had initially planned…
Looking forward to this weekend! It marks @vermont50 25th Anniversary!
Fará do nosso espírito livre!
Uma excelente quinta-feira, Instamigles rs.
