A huge shout out to @stevegoodman22 for becoming an Ironman today in Chattanooga!! I've never been so stoked about someone's race than I was today. I've seen Steven's daily training for months leading up to a half and then this full. You know the ups and downs of training and I felt a part of all of it. His stories often made my laugh until I cried. And triathlon people understand that you just have to have those same weird triathlon friends in your life that get your sense of strange humor and Steven does that for me! He's overcome so much and fought so hard today and entirely deserves this Ironman title and I am so beyond thrilled!! Congratulations, Steven! I saw you become a new person and the new Ironman you are and the insane part of all of it is that your journey is really just beginning. Incredible! 🏊🏻🚴🏃 Dang, I love this sport!
My story wrapped up in a nutshell: ••• I am so happy I made the change! Three and a half years ago I was a total different Kristen. I was 150lb (no muscle) and was so unhappy. I drank all the time because I thought that would make me happy. It didn’t! Jm went away to a school and I decided I needed to make a change. So I became a runner again. I ran by my self all the time because I “knew” only I could push me to be a better me. So much has changed since then. My realization that I could do it on my on went out the window first. I ran my first half and found out I was pregnant a week later. After having Mac I joined SSM and started back strength training. Now I have ran 5 half Marathons, done 2 sprint Tri, became an Instructor with @s.l.a.m.columbus and I am training for a full marathon and Olympic TRI. Anything is possible if you have support, the Lord above, and mental determination! Anything is possible, just keep believing in your self. #onebadmotherrunner#anythingspossible#bigtofit#train#fitmom#TRImom#goals#strongmom#alcholtomiles#run#destressing#mystory#trustgod

Keep it consistent and it will eventually become a habit. Another Sunday spent at the oval. Unfortunately had to cut it short this morning but hopefully I will make it back this evening to finish #sundayrunday#sundayshenanagins#stadiumsundays
This bad boy makes the magic happen in the early morning hours when I ride. Someone asked me recently what trainer I have - and while I knew it was a @cycleops, I forgot the model. Turns out I have a Supermagneto Pro. And I LOVE it!! This thing is at least 10 years old and it is dependable, smooth, and truly simulates being out on the road (minus the nice breeze, which is supplied by a nearby fan 😊). My husband did well when he got me this for my birthday all those years ago! This trainer will be HUGE in getting me to that HIM finish next July! 🚴🏼♀️ 〰〰45 min bike with 5:00 Olympic Distance pace intervals/1 mile run for streak day 1️⃣1️⃣8️⃣〰〰
10 beautiful miles in Jersey this morning with non other than my best friend of 21 years. Stopped at the bridges along our path today, chatted, laughed, and she of course listened to be gripe about wanting to be done. Trail running is so much better to me, but needed to get in a long road run. Took it all in while I was here. We may grow separately from time to time, but we never grow apart. Love running through life with you @naddia820 💚 #purposelivingjourney#friendsforlife#makingmemories
Always looking for a great donut shop while traveling and let me tell you @broadst_doughco does not disappoint. Super delicious and amazing staff! Thanks for a great ending to a fantastic trip to Jersey visiting my best friend and her family. #purposelivingjourney#lifeiswhatyoumakeit#donuts#doughnuts
🎈The only thing better than your birthday is sharing it with a great friend. 🙌🏼 I admire her so much. She is always positive. She is 💯% loyal to her partner, her family & her friends. She is an amazing teacher and coach. She is funny and kind. I'm so lucky 🍀 that we get to work together helping to change people's lives. Hope you had a great day. Here's to another year of awesomeness! 🎉🎈🍻 #ourbirthday#soulsisters#celebrateyou
Tomorrow, I will feel the burn in my legs. I will fight the urge to want to quit. I will breathe heavily, and become so sore it hurts to walk. I will give it my all and my everything. And most importantly, I will smile every mile. And no one will stop me! Let’s do this!! @peaksapparel #peaksapparel#smileeverymile#ironmanchattanooga
So I haven't ran this far since I did a half marathon 2.5 yrs ago and then turned to triathlon. I've been building my speed and endurance ever since. This half ironman training is something so personal and special to me that is way too hard to explain. As @ironcowboyjames says, "you have to become a different person to become a triathlete." And oh have I become a different person the past 2.5 years!
I haven't ran in a week and a half due to some tightness and that's the longest I've ever not ran and stayed somewhat mentally sane since my running journey began. 🤣 I respect recovery and healing just as much as pushing and breaking my body down. I was so mentally ready for this run! I had a few good hill climbs and was able to talk quite a bit throughout it. This 13 mile training run for my race in 5 weeks is faster than the half marathon race I did 2.5 years ago. It's crazy to me. Little daily acts of consistency... this is how I know I've gotten here and how I hope to meet me half ironman goals!
I decided to do a mini bike-run brick this morning to see how I felt. Nothing major, just a quick and easy 30 minute ride and 20 minute jog. I forced myself not to stare at my Garmin and constantly focusing on pedal and stride length. The experiment went well, as I seemed to be enjoying myself. I still have a long way to go before that fire is burning inside me again, but I think that a couple months of no-pressure training is what I need and I'll be back on track!
Saturday morning trainer ride. 30 minuets at a 19.6 pace. My little man joined me for 10 minuets. He loves watching me peddle. I am loving seeing fitness love in his eyes too! 😍 My heart is going to be so happy when he does his first 5k! #TRImom#fitmom#bikemom#triathlon#tritraining#momsheart 🚴🏼♀️
