Day 13: As we pulled back into the city this
morning our hearts sank just a bit. After two weeks on the road through the sheep and horse covered country side, being around more sheep than people, being in Reykjavik seemed a bit busy. As the rain fell and we walked through the city streets we couldn't help but reminisce on everything we had done over the length of this trip. We've covered nearly 2600 kilometers in our trusty mobile home, danced with locals and watched the northern lights dance across the sky surrounded by people from all over the world. We've climbed to the tops of waterfalls, scrambled through lava fields, bottle fed sheep and watched geysers shoot towards the sky. We've laughed, we've sang at the top or our lungs and danced our faces off in our kitchen/dining room/ living room. We will never forget this wonderful country and we are forever grateful for having the opportunity to travel. It will be sad to leave but we can both say we are excited to return home, to our friends and to an exciting move to the mountains. Takk Fyrir Iceland. Bless for now!
i'm actually so blown away by the epic support i've received pre race. so many kind, thoughtful people in the world; honestly so emotional reading everyone's messages and for the past 3 days receiving good luck post and having friends turning up at the house to wish me luck. .
i am all packed and ready for this adventure. let's go...! #ultrarace
Beaut east-side tour of Jersey with @philiplegrand this morning of 33km. Final long run before @jerseymarathon next Sunday so taking it nice and easy on the pace. Fuelling and stretching for the rest of the weekend now while watching the @superleaguetriathlon pros do the hard work! 🥞🥓🍳🥑🍌🍓😍
Not a bad day yesterday. I got to do my long run in the Air conditioning with fancy toilets, free coffee at hand and a cheering crowd I couldn't complain even if I had to do a 1km loop 42 times. I even managed to win the unlimited distance category and got an awesome prize of a weekend in a hotel with views of my fav' UAE training ground.. Jebel Hafeet. Not a bad training run all. Did I mention the free canapés and beverages? #ultrarunner#ultrarunning#feelingawesome#feelingstrong#aloftabudhabi#aloftrunsforchildren#7emiratestraining
Vietnam Mountain Marathon 100k - 未完成
So it was another DNF
Missed COT at CP3 60km mark by an hour
Garmin showing 65km cos that was what I ran
Did not got lost in this time
But route seemed to have problem with an extra 4-5km which I confirmed with another 5 runners
So I spent an extra hour on that 5km
Was contemplating if I want to contest that extra 5km to get back an hour
But approaching CP3 I realised I was so exhausted that even if they gave me that hour
I would not be able to carry on anyway
Is trail rusty
The trail climbs were a real challenge
At night when I looked up and saw headlamps way up in the mountains
The feeling of 'omg I have to reach there' was very intimidating
A humbling experience this was
Shall learn from this
I came as promised
It is a shame I was unable to get to know you better
A dry wind. A dry, dry wind. Good to be back on the track and testing myself regularly. I was only going to drink beer and watch footy, so this is a win... Read my Marathon and Half Marathon Faster e-book, link in my bio. Ripper chat awaits.
